Black Stump Festival 2008
In 2008, Alpha Counselling Services again attended the 4-day Black Stump Festival at Horsley Park International Equestrian Centre, to run “The Change Room”. “The Change Room” was staffed by Lyn Worsley and a young, innovative team of psychologists.
“The Change Room” was a place to learn to think differently. In “The Change Room” there were interactive thought games and cards, comfy lounges and a welcoming team to guide young people through the changes they were ready for. In “The Change Room” the Stump Psychs provided 25 free Psych sessions, approximately 290 personality tests, and ran 4 workshops attended by over 570 people, on topics including relationships, depression and anxiety, perfectionism and knowing when to seek help from a Psychologist. In total, over 700 people attended activities run by “The Change Room” and were challenged to make changes in their life. Four days with extremes of temperature and pouring rain in converted horse stables made for an interesting long weekend!
